About us

The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) is a vibrant faculty based in the heart of London with a long tradition of world-leading research and teaching in physics, mathematics, chemistry, informatics and engineering.

About the role

This role is an exciting opportunity to work with the Department of Mathematics to develop the curriculum for a flagship new undergraduate programme Mathematics for Quantitative Problem-solving, aimed to launch in 2027/8. This programme will train students to solve complex, real-world problems through the application of mathematical methods.

This post would suit somebody who has experience of managing strategic projects within Higher Education and / or has experience of managing education focused projects in a programme or project management capacity, and who is comfortable engaging with external stakeholders.

The post holder will be expected to lead on relatively complex assignments and must be comfortable representing the faculty with a range of stakeholders, as well as being able to write and present findings and make recommendations in a clear and concise manner.  You will work with colleagues to draw expertise and skills from others as required to ensure the success of projects.

You will work closely with academic colleagues to establish and realise productive partnerships with organisations who have expertise in teaching quantitative problem-solving, and to forge links with highly relevant employers who will inform the curriculum, set real-world problems for students, engage with them as they develop responses and offer work-based opportunities.

This role sits with the faculty’s Business Operations function which provides strategic project support to the faculty’s leadership and will report to the Head of Business Operations.  The role holder will work closely with the Education, and Enterprise & Engagement functions in the faculty. The work programmes will be determined by the Course Lead, Associate Director- Education, and Head of Enterprise & Engagement.

The post will initially be offered on a two year- fixed-term contract, but there can be flexibility with the duration if required.

This post can be offered on a 50% or 80% FTE basis, and work tasks will be accommodated accordingly.

If offered at 80% FTE, the post will additionally play a significant role in shaping and delivering the envisaged employer-linked projects stream of the new curriculum.
