About The Role

We’re looking for a creative communicator to join our Communications & External Affairs team. As Communications & Engagement Officer, you’ll use your excellent writing skills to help shape how we connect with our internal audiences through impactful storytelling, engaging content and effective use of our channels.

You’ll have a passion for content and communication, be able to research and seek out stories, build relationships across the University, and bring fresh ideas to how we share King’s work and priorities. From digital content to strategic messaging, you’ll play a key part in how we inform, inspire and engage.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until  25/08/2026.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: 

Essential criteria

  1. Excellent verbal and writing skills including creative and compelling content creation, editing, and proofreading to a high standard. 
  2. Experience of researching, developing and delivering compelling impactful content in multiple different formats and maximising reach. 
  3. Experience of using data insights to evaluate, measure and improve channels and content. 
  4. Experience of working with a range of teams on internal communications for diverse audiences in a complex organisation. 
  5. Experience of leveraging digital channels to curate and create conversations, developing multi-directional and two-way dialogue. 
  6. Proactive, collaborative team player who shares expertise to help create and develop ideas. 
  7. Experience and skill in creating, managing and editing multimedia content, such as videos, social media posts, online articles and newsletters, and using the Contensis Content Management system. 
  8. A natural and effective networker who can tease out stories and is able to work with people at all levels of seniority.

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience in higher education or a large matrix organisation
