About us:
The Data Governance and Security team develops, maintains, and supports system and process security, data governance, data protection compliance, regulatory reporting, and external and internal audit requirements.
The team ensures that strategies and procedures in relation to these areas are fit for purpose and is responsible for providing a ‘gold source’ of all course information and student data to ensure best practice in relation to our internal and external reporting commitments.
We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education.
About the role:
The Data Governance Manager’s role is to provide essential support to embed governance and good practices for the processing of student data and management of course information.
Responsibility includes progressing the implementation of the Data Governance Framework, ensuring audit outcomes such as user access and data quality are progressed, working closely with IT on maintaining the data security environment to support business use of the University’s student systems, and to ensure that the University’s data governance and compliance obligations are being met.
This is a full time position (35 hours per week) and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Strong knowledge of data protection principles and compliance with strong knowledge of information security principles.
- Relevant work experience and/or education with demonstrable experience of working within Student Information Technology Services (SITS), troubleshooting data within that environment, and engaging with testing of significant system changes/updates.
- Experience of reviewing and developing business processes in an information governance environment.
- Ability to establish, build professional working relationships and engage with internal and external networks that support your role (e.g. professional membership body/cross team groups)
- Experience in identifying areas for development, proposing and implementing solutions, in co-ordination with others.
- Ability to write policies and procedures, reports with an ability to translate complex information into easily understood language for the given audience.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant qualification in information management, security or information compliance
- Information Systems Security Assessment Framework (ISSAF), Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST)
- Adept at maintaining progress on multiple agendas and projects simultaneously.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Powerpoint, and ability to learn new systems quickly and competently.
