About Us
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Assistant to provide administrative and operational project support at the Unit for Paediatric and Population-Based Dermatology Research, led by Professor Carsten Flohr, Chair in Dermatology and Population Health Sciences at King’s College London.
The Unit leads a number of major international and national research initiatives, including the Global Atopic Dermatitis Atlas (GADA), A-STAR, Mind & Skin, and TRANSFoods. The postholder will primarily support the GADA Project, while also contributing to the smooth running of other research studies within the Unit as required.
About the role
The Operations Assistant will provide high-level, proactive, comprehensive and efficient administrative and PA support to the research team. This includes working with project managers, investigators, and collaborators, as well as ensuring the effective delivery of administrative, financial and HR processes. The role will evolve in line with the needs of the Unit, and the successful candidate will need to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
This role will suit a candidate with excellent IT and organisational skills who can work accurately, with close attention to detail in a busy environment. The successful applicant will be able to work both independently and as part of the wider research unit, demonstrate a flexible approach to work, and meet deadlines using initiative and judgement to prioritise competing demands. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential.
This is a full time contract (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31st October 2026.
This post will be based on site with potential to have 1-2 days working from home after a training period/probation and with line managers agreement.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level with other relevant experience
- Experience of a wide range of administrative processes
- Experience of diary management
- Experience of Committee servicing and/or events organisation
- Excellent organisation skills
- Ability to manage priorities under pressure
- Accuracy and attention to detail with ability to maintain confidentiality
Desirable criteria
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment, multitask and deal with competing demands
- Experience of working in a higher education institute or research environment
- Experience of supporting research grants and/or HR processes
- Highly numerate with experience of budget management
