About the role:

We are seeking a motivated and innovative Data Analyst to join our dynamic and collaborative Data Solutions team. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between business needs and technical implementation by analysing business requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and contributing to the overall solution design. The position involves a combination of reverse and forward engineering to gather, document, and refine requirements effectively.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside senior data experts and gain exposure to a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, including Azure Integration Services and other Azure data products. This role also provides opportunities to contribute to the development of integration solutions and further enhance your technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

•       Act as a key representative of the Data Solutions team, building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.

•       Collaborate with Business Analysts, Integration Developers, Business and IT SMEs to conceptualise, analyse, and design data solutions.

•       Work with business teams to understand and document data integration requirements for both newly procured and existing in-house systems.

•       Partner with technical teams and third-party vendors to analyse underlying data requirements and mapping specifications.

•       Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of data integration processes and procedures.

•       Contribute to the integration of reference and master data, ensuring high standards of quality and consistency.

•       Participate in data reconciliation, validation, and testing activities to ensure data accuracy and system integrity.

•       Support the development and implementation of innovative data collection methods and processes to enhance decision-making capabilities across the university.

•       Develop and maintain conceptual and logical data models, ensuring proper metadata documentation.

•       Provide training and support to users of data integration solutions.

This is a full time post and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1.      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

2.      Strong hands-on experience with SQL.

3.      Proven expertise in data and application integration.

4.      Demonstrated ability to analyse data patterns, trends, and relationships.

5.      Experience in creating and maintaining comprehensive Data Mapping documents.

6.      Knowledge of APIs and web services.

7.      Strong understanding of data integration processes and data modelling.

8.      Experience in creating technical documentation and drawing Data Flow Diagrams.

9.      Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills.

10.  Proactive learner with attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset.

Desirable criteria

1.      Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

2.      Experience working with Azure Data and Integration tools.

3.      Experience working with modern API management platforms.
