​This role will be based in the Cultures Cluster, which houses the Departments of Interdisciplinary Humanities, English, and Languages, Literatures & Cultures.

​The role will contribute to the smooth operation of educational delivery across all three Cluster Departments and will be primarily based in the Department of Interdisciplinary Humanities.

About the role

We are looking for a Programme Officer to join our Professional Services team, working within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at one of the most prestigious universities in the UK. 

The role offers an exciting opportunity to anyone who is interested in providing high quality comprehensive support for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. 

While primarily based in the Interdisciplinary Humanities team and reporting to the Interdisciplinary Humanities Programme Manager, you will also have a dotted line to the Programme Managers in English and Languages, Literatures & Cultures. A significant part of the role will involve working with the other teams in the Cluster to deliver key areas of operational work at peak times, collaborating with a range of stakeholders to ensure resilience and continuity in the wider cluster.

This role will be suitable to someone who is flexible and confident working with a range of colleagues, stakeholders and working styles, is resilient to change and has strong organisational and time management skills.

You will act as the first point of contact for students and academic staff, providing a professional, supportive, responsive and personable service. The role supports processes across the whole academic cycle, ensuring accurate and timely record management across multiple systems. This would be an ideal role for anyone with a passion for supporting the delivery of excellent education from the heart of London.  

This is a full time and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft document and correspondence 
  2. Excellent organisation and time management skills 
  3. Strong numeracy skills and the ability to analyse complex data, with proficiency in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook). 
  4. Methodical, detail oriented and flexible in approach to work, maintaining a high level of accuracy  
  5. Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional, assured manner and build positive working relationships with team members, collaborating effectively to get things done.  
  6. Proactive with the ability to work independently and manage own workload 
  7. Curious, customer service oriented, with a commitment to personal accountability and continuous improvement  
  8. Comfortable with adapting to change, driving own professional development 

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience in the use of databases, student records systems (such as SITS) and website content management systems
  2. Prior experience of working in a customer facing environment
  3. Experience of using virtual learning environments.
  4. Previous experience of working in HE
