The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) is a leading centre for mental health and neuroscience research in Europe. Research from the IoPPN has made, and continues to make, an impact on how we understand, prevent and treat mental illness, neurological conditions and other conditions that affect the brain.

The Department of Psychological Medicine focuses on the interface between psychiatry and medicine, psychiatry and occupation, psychiatry and the military, and psychiatry in different settings. The disorders of interest are those of the common mental disorders, such as depression, anxiety, perinatal psychiatry, psychological oncology, eating disorders and stress related disorders.

About the role:

**

The Stress, Psychiatry and Immunology (SPI) Lab, is looking for a Programme Manager with relevant experience to join their team. The postholder will sit within the department of Psychological Medicine in the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, and will provide management and oversight of research programmes.

The main studies which will be overseen by the postholder include the following: ASPIRE (Advanced stratification of people with depression based on inflammation), and the UK site network of the PEARL DIVER project. The role will involve the day-to-day management of these two large scale research operations, governance, compliance, regulatory and ethical approval, and more. The postholder will briefly be responsible for overseeing the governance of the projects, communication and networking with the consortium and site network partners, problem solving, planning (including resource planning), and will have leadership and pastoral responsibilities.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st May 2029.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Specialist relevant postgraduate qualification (such as Clinical Trials postgraduate certificate)
  2. Postgraduate qualifications in the areas of Psychological Medicine/Psychiatric Medicine (e.g., MSc)
  3. Professional experience in Programme Management, Project Management, or Trial Management of research project in relevant field (e,g., psychological medicine)
  4. Professional experience and good understanding of research ethics and governance
  5. Professional experience with team leadership, specifically line management and coordination of research teams on dedicated research projects
  6. Demonstratable understanding of complex methodologies, such as platform trials
  7. Experience working on multiple research projects at once

Desirable criteria

  1. Extensive and recognized editorial experience, specifically in written format
  2. Experience in research in treatment resistant depression and inflammation
  3. Experience communicating in different means (presentations, papers, blog style articles and so on)
