Annual MRC SGDP Summer School

SGU members run courses as part of the SGDP Summer School in Twin Model Fitting (Fruhling Rijsdijk) and on the Analysis of Genetic Association Studies (Cathryn Lewis).

South of England Genetic Epidemiology Group (SEGEG)

SEGEG hosts well attended 6-monthly research meetings, supports an email mailing list for disseminating job and meeting announcements, maintains a list of upcoming meetings in the field, and acts as a forum for all researchers in genetic epidemiology and statistical genetics in the south of England, both in academia and elsewhere. Organised by Mike Weale.

SGDP Statistical Genetics / Quantitative Genetics Journal Club

The SGU runs a series of Friday afternoon meetings in each week of every month as follows:

  • Week 1: Journal club on twins analysis and methodologies
  • Week 2: -
  • Week 3: SGU meeting (SGU members only)
  • Week 4/5: Journal club on general statistical genetics analysis and methodologies

Complex Diseases Group Meetings

This monthly meeting is for researchers interested in the genetics of complex diseases, covering molecular, statistical, bioinformatic and clinical aspects of the research area. Organised by Cathryn Lewis, meetings are held on the first Friday of each month on the Guy’s Campus.  Presentations include talks on ongoing research projects, and discussions of a journal paper. PhD students and postdocs are particularly encouraged to present at the meeting. A monthly series of research and journal club talks aimed at all KCL researchers interested in the genetics of complex diseases. King’s Next Generation Sequencing Meetings

A monthly series of research and journal club talks aimed at all KCL researchers interested in the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data. Organised by Mike Weale, they run on the fourth Friday of each month. Contact to join the mailing list.
