A-Level Spanish & Portuguese Writing Competition 2023
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at King’s announces this year’s Spanish & Portuguese writing competition for students in Year 12 or 13 (S5 or S6 in Scotland).
The competition invites students to submit an original piece of writing in Spanish or Portuguese on the following topic:
Explore the concept of parallel universes and write a story that takes place in an alternate city located in Portugal, Spain or any Latin American country.
How to enter
Entries should be 400-450 words in length and written in Spanish or Portuguese. The topic may be addressed from any angle; your submission may take the form of a creative piece of writing, or you may choose another creative form. Entries will be judged on the basis of both content and language.
Entries should be submitted by e-mail, together with the entry form, to Raquel Fernández-Sánchez at email@example.com for Spanish and Alexandra Lourenço Dias firstname.lastname@example.org for Portuguese by 20th February 2024.
The author of the winning entry will receive a book token and will have their submission published in Sobremesa, the Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan language magazine produced by students at King's College London, which has a wide circulation among university students and language learners across the UK.
