Academic appointed to chair advisory panel

A King’s College London academic has been appointed to a new panel set up to advise the Office for National Statistics.

Professor Jonathan Portes, a member of the Department of Political Economy, will chair the Stakeholder Advisory Panel on Labour Market Statistics. He will serve for a fixed three-year term.

The panel is tasked with providing independent advice to the deputy national statistician on the production, publication, and uses of the ONS’s labour market statistics.

Joining Prof Portes on the panel will be officials from the Bank of England, HM Treasury, Office for Budget Responsibility, and other higher education institutions.
