More than 60 guests attended the event, hosted in the Somerset Room at King’s on 12 April, with attendees given the opportunity to network with peers and former colleagues as well as catch-up with academic staff from the institute.

The event coincided with the two-day King’s Russia Institute Symposium, which brought together a host of leading Russia and Eurasia scholars. Those attending the symposium also joined the alumni event.

Professor Gulnaz Sharafutdinova, director of the King’s Russia Institute, said: “The reception was a fantastic way to mark the first day of the symposium and also provided an excellent opportunity for our alumni to meet some of the guests and speakers who attended.

“Our alumni events are an important means of staying in touch with our former students and, I hope, a useful way of building connections between our current students and those who have moved into the professional sphere.”
