An address was given by Professor Sir Francis Jacobs QC, President of the Centre of European Law.  Guests included barristers, members of government, current and past academic staff from King’s College London, and colleagues from the wider academic community. The event was organised to mark the Centre's work in 2017-18 and its regular series of conferences, events and publications.

Professor Andrea Biondi, Director of the Centre, marked the celebration, saying: “After a full programme of seminars and events during the academic year 2017/18, it was a fitting way for the Centre of European Law to celebrate and recognise two top two jurists’ appointment to the highest offices.”

Profesor Francis Jacobs QC also described the event as: “A truly exceptional celebration for the Centre of European Law. It was an occasion to recognise the appointment of two outstanding personalities to the highest judicial posts: Professor Lucia Serena Rossi to be a Judge at the European Court of Justice, and Lady Justice Arden to be a Justice of the United Kingdom Supreme Court. Both of them are long-standing friends and active supporters of the Centre of European Law, and both have already contributed much to the development of the rule of law in Europe."
