Over four hundred cleaning and security staff previously employed by contractors Atalian Servest and CIS joined King’s on 1 August and are now directly employed by the university.

The transfer is one of the largest single TUPE transfers (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment) to take place within the higher education sector as a result of the decision to end the outsourcing of university support services.

The newly-formed Cleaning and Security (CSS) department represents around half of the total Estates & Facilities workforce at King’s and is part of Facilities Management, ensuring all campus buildings and services meet the needs of staff, students and visitors including maintenance, engineering and catering.

We are pleased that over four hundred contractor staff chose King’s as their employer. These support services are vital in keeping our university functioning so that we can continue to deliver our teaching and research agenda. Our staff and students have shown their support with their heartfelt campaigning and we look forward to our collective future together.
