Dr Fernando Zelaya receives Supervisory Excellence Award

Each year the King’s Centre for Doctoral Studies awards Supervisory Excellence Awards designed to recognise and reward postgraduate supervisors for the outstanding supervision and support that they offer to research students at King’s College London.

We are delighted that Dr Fernando Zelaya, Reader at Department of Neuroimaging is the recipient of the Supervisory Excellence Award 2019/2020 for the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN).

I am grateful to the panel for this award. There are many supervisors who do a great job here at the Institute but most of all I am grateful to the students with whom I have worked, for the very kind recommendations that they made about me.

The key criteria in selecting winners is supervisory innovation, commitment to pastoral care, support for professional development, as well as a proven record in supervising students to completion. In all cases, the supervisors that are acknowledged by this award go the extra mile for their supervisees.

This is a wonderful achievement for a very important role.

Professor Ian Everall, Executive Dean for IoPPN

Professor Sarah Byford, Associate Dean for Doctoral Studies at IoPPN said ‘Congratulations Fernando, for this well-deserved acknowledgement of your support for our students.’
