History Department Honorary Research Fellow Dr Jacqueline Glomski has been awarded a Small Research Grant from the British Academy for the academic year 2012-13. The grant will fund the start-up of a UK-based research group devoted to 'Seventeenth-Century Fiction: Text and Transmission'. The 20 members of the group will meet in two workshops during the year to consider the social, cultural, and historical aspects of seventeenth-century prose fiction. The project's intention is to uncover the roots of the transnational exchanges that led to the development of new forms of fiction, and intends to produce a volume of collected papers that will contribute to a more comprehensive history of the early novel. A webpage will be set up to publicize the project and to disseminate ancillary material, such as bibliographies and course outlines. The co-director of the project is Dr Isabelle Moreau from the French Department at UCL.
