Professor Viv Ellis and Dr Christine Harrison have both been invited to speak at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) annual meeting this April in Toronto, 'Leveraging Education Research in a Post-Truth Era: Multi-Modal Narratives to Democratise Evidence'.

The two education researchers, both based in the School of Education, Communication & Society at King's College London, will appear on only two invited presidential session panels on teacher education. This reflects the global standing of the School and its education research.

They will help answer two fundamental challenges to education research identified by AERA: how educational researchers can still work to lessen inequality and increase educational opportunities in a “post-truth” political era where facts and evidence are increasingly disregarded, and the 'special interests' undermining the interdisciplinary knowledge base of the field of education (More on the AERA website).

Professor Ellis and Dr Harrison have both played key roles in the development of CITED (Centre for Innovation in Teacher Education and Development), a joint institutional strategic initiative between Teachers College, Columbia University and King’s College London. There will also be a CITED seminar in Toronto preceding the conference.
