Former CHoSTM student wins prize

Hermione Giffard has been awarded the George L. Mosse Prize for 2013 by the Journal of Contemporary History.

Hermione Giffard (former PhD student at the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine) has been awarded the George L. Mosse Prize for 2013 by the Journal of Contemporary History for her article, ‘Engines of Desperation: Jet Engine, Production and New Weapons in the Third Reich’, published in Volume 48, Number 4, October 2013.  The paper was also the subject of a recent article in Der Spiegel (“Wundertüte am Himmel” 10 February 2014, pp. 136-137).

The George L Mosse prize is given for the best article by a previously unpublished author published in the Journal. The Prize carries an award of $2,000.
