Staff from the Department of Geography were nominated for King's Awards to recognise their excellence in teaching and service delivery.

Dr Bruce Main, Kris Chan and Isobel Ige were all nominated to receive a King's Award in last week's ceremony, while Dr Mark Mulligan received a University Supervisory Excellence Award.

Bruce and Kris were nominated after providing exceptional teaching assistance to a student embarking on a trip to Ecuador to collect dissertation data. As this was the student’s first experience of independent data collection, they patiently taught the student how to use the equipment, enabling the student to feel confident in the field.

Isobel was nominated because she has been instrumental in implementing substantial changes brought by curriculum reform in the Geography Department. Supporting students quickly, effectively and sympathetically, she created a system for exam boards to proactively contact students on results and well-being issues.

Congratulations to them all!
