Global forum puts focus on Europe's role in push for peace
The role of Europe in the push for denuclearisation and peace on the Korean Peninsula was as the forefront of discussion at a global forum jointly organised by King’s College London.
The Korea Global Forum for Peace ran over three days, from 11-13 November, and saw expert speakers and officials from Korea and Europe discuss the path towards peace and reunification.
The event was organised by the Department of European and International Studies (EIS) at King’s together with SOAS University of London, and the Ministry of Unification Korea.
Dr Johnna Montgomerie, head of EIS, gave an opening address, while Dr Ramon Pacheco Pardo was part of a panel of speakers discussing how European countries can play a meaningful role in issues affecting the Korean Peninsula now and in the future.
In her introduction, Dr Montgomerie said: “This forum is central to our mission as a department, to engage in these meaningful discussions where academic knowledge is applied and new relationships are forged.”
