Homelessness and social work education

Karl Mason discussed emerging findings from a NIHR School for Social Care Research study

Slide for a presentation on homelessness

Over 200 participants joined an HSCWRU Homelessness Series webinar to hear and discuss emerging findings from an NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR) funded project on Addressing multiple exclusion homelessness in social work education. This project by Jess Harris and Karl Mason builds on the Unit’s Adult safeguarding, homelessness and self-neglect study. Invited discussants who shared their responses to the emerging findings were Steph Grant, Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor; Harrshita Murarka, a NQSW; Ruth Allen, BASW; Rebecca Mulvaney, Social Work England; and Lyn Romeo, Chief Social Worker for Adults. In the wider discussion, participants shared their own experiences and reflections.

The slides from this event are available on the event page. Forthcoming webinars in this series are here.

This webinar was right on point and I have gained a lot as a newly qualified social worker just starting my ASYE. Thank you for sharing the resources.

Thanks for the excellent session this morning. It was very informative and has given me much food for thought about incorporating homelessness more effectively into our programmes.
