Inaugural King's Society Lecture
Last week, we were honoured to host the inaugural King’s Society Lecture, a special event celebrating the generosity of those who have chosen to leave a legacy gift in their Will to King’s.

Held on 11 June in the College Chapel, the event brought together members of the newly launched King’s Society, a community established to recognise and thank those who have made a lasting commitment to our future.
Guests were welcomed by Julia Brown, Head of Legacy and In Memory Giving, before hearing an inspiring lecture from our Vice-Chancellor & President, Professor Shitij Kapur, who spoke on 200 Years of Excellence, Innovation and Service.
His talk reflected on the rich history of King’s and highlighted our many achievements, notable alumni, and innovative research. He then offered a first look at the proposed plans for the South West Wing at Bush House. The Vice-Chancellor concluded by paying tribute to those who have supported us with legacy gifts over the past year and reaffirmed the vital role these gifts play in shaping the future of King’s.
Following the lecture, guests gathered in the Council Rooms for a reception, where they had the opportunity to meet senior members of the University and talk with fellow King’s Society members.
A recording of the lecture is available to view here:
With university funding becoming ever-more precarious, gifts left in wills to King’s are more impactful than ever. Philanthropic support from our former staff, alumni and students is supporting those most in need and developing ground-breaking discoveries. If you are considering leaving a donation to King’s in your will, we would be honoured to help you to ensure that your gift supports the areas you care about most. You can find out more and contact out team here.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the event a success and to the King’s Society members, whose kindness ensures King’s can continue to thrive for generations to come.
