To celebrate the first two cohorts of graduates completing the MA in Military and Security Studies as part of the Intermediate Command and Staff Course Land (ICSC(L)) at the Defence Academy between 2015-2018, the Defence Studies Department arranged an extravagant reception for their Graduation.

Following on from the ceremony at the Barbican on the 27th July, the graduates and their families were collected by coach and taken the short distance to the Tower of London where they made their way to Tower Pier.

The Elizabethan, a beautiful replica of an 1890’s stern-wheeled Mississippi paddle steamer collected all guests and set sail down the River Thames for its two and a half hour journey.

The event was started with speeches by Dr Robert Foley, Dean of Academic Studies and Col Noddy Stafford, Army Course Developer, and then guests were treated to a delicious summer menu, free bar and music with the opportunity to collect their course certificates. It was a warm and sunny day where guests could take in all the sights down to Greenwich before turning and heading back, eventually passing under Tower Bridge to a spectacular show of lightening.
