KCH dental hygiene training suite unveils exciting refurbishment
Sixteen new dental chairs installed to boost student learning at King's College Hospital

The Dental Therapy and Hygiene (DHT) department at King's College Hospital has officially reopened its newly refurbished training suite, with 16 brand-new dental chairs now in place. The previous chairs - more than 25 years old - were in urgent need of replacement. The modern equipment will be used regularly by dental therapy and hygiene students, significantly enhancing their hands-on learning experience.
The DHT department hosts the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences three-year undergraduate programme in dental therapy and hygiene. The course equips students with the knowledge and skills to promote oral health and restore tooth function. The updated suite will also help improve the quality of care provided to patients who attend the department for treatment.
The refurbished facility was officially opened on Thursday 12 June by Professor Michael Escudier, Executive Dean at FoDOCS, joined by senior faculty members and staff from the Dental Institute.
Located within the Dental Institute at King’s College Hospital, the DHT department has been training and educating future dental therapists and hygienists since 2004.
