With two days to go before the end of term and Christmas break, we are pleased to bring you an uplifting festive virtual performance from the King’s Big Band, part of the King’s Jazz Society.
The performance of four festive tunes brings together 25 performers from the Music Department in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities as well as students from the Social Sciences and Policy and Natural Mathematical Sciences faculties.
The virtual piece has been edited by the President of the Jazz Society, Jake Fletcher, who plays the trumpet.
Jake said: “This piece brings King’s students together to perform in a tough year when we haven’t been able to perform and rehearse as normal. We hope that the performance brings cheer to the end of 2020 and leads us into a better 2021 where we look forward to playing together and performing in person.
“The society would like to thank Andy Fry, Head of the Music Department, for his support throughout this term and I’d like to thank the performers for coming together for this piece,” Jake added.
The Big Band has played at events for the BBC, NHS Foundation Trust and has connections with all the main London conservatoires. The society also usually play at The Vault or Guy’s campus bar.
The songs are as follows:
1 Here Comes Santa Claus
2 Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
3 Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
4 Auld Lang Syne
