Following on from the signing of a strategic partnership with Sciences Po in Paris, King's Business School also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) in Shanghai.

SAIF welcomed Executive Dean, Professor Stephen Bach, and Vice Dean International, Professor Igor Filatotchev, at the Gaojin Xuhui Campus in downtown Shanghai. They were hosted by Professor Zhang Chun, Executive Dean of SAIF and Professor Yan Hong, Associate Dean of SAIF.

The agreement describes a commitment for KIng's Business School and SAIF to collaborate in key areas such as academic research, personnel training and growing our shared international reputations. Both institutions are committed to developing the next generation of talent and leadership in finance and will explore the future potential for dual-degree programmes, executive financial management training and student exchange.

Professor Zhang Chun, Executive Dean of SAIF, said that ‘’SAIF has become China's world-class financial college. The cooperation with King's College of London will help accelerate the internationalization, marketization and professional development of the college’’.

Professor Stephen Bach commented that ‘’China is so important for King’s Business School in every respect. We have many students and alumni from the region; and many students from around the world who want to understand to do business in China. From an academic and educational perspective, SAIF is a world-class partner with whom to internationalise our Finance programmes. We are eager to get started’’.

As part of a packed trip, Professors Bach and Filatotchev also attended several meetings with peer institutions and were the guests of honour at an event for Shanghai alumni. Over 70 local alumni came to hear Professors Bach and Filatotchev discuss the future strategy of King’s Business School.

Professor Igor Filatotchev reflected that ‘’the pace of growth and the depth of talent in China is so impressive. It has been an invaluable experience meeting with our alumni. Through our partnership with SAIF, I hope we can forge closer links with students, alumni and academic colleagues from Shanghai and across China’’.
