King's Global Health Partnerships launches online volunteer platform

On International Volunteer Day 2023, King's Global Health Partnerships launches a new online platform for health professionals interested in volunteering with our health partnerships in Africa.

Professional Volunteers from across the NHS have long been an integral part of King’s Global Health Partnerships. For over 20 years, volunteers have given their expertise and time to our partnerships to help run a vast range of global health initiatives.

From short term volunteers working to assess medical examinations in Somaliland, to long term volunteers living and working in Freetown, Sierra Leone, building nursing care and strengthening the provision of nursing education — our work would not be possible without these dedicated expert volunteers.

Online platform for volunteers

Over the past year, KGHP has been working towards professionalising and streamlining our volunteer systems so we can reach, retain and engage a wider pool of committed and experienced NHS healthcare workers. Along with the King’s College London IT team and OpenCampus, a leading digital education platform creator, we are launching King’s Global Health Partnership's Volunteering Platform. This is a platform where volunteers can:

  • Learn more about the work we are doing
  • See future opportunities
  • Apply for roles
  • Easily book interviews, and liaise with KGHP staff about flights, accommodation, and vaccines
  • Track their volunteering goals
  • Communicate with other KGHP volunteers
  • Stay up to date with our wider programme of work.

The site, which is also accessible from the KGHP website will ask all volunteers, old and new, to register. Once you have done so, you can choose to create a public profile where you can actively apply to new roles. We understand our volunteers have busy professional lives, and therefore having one centralised location for all KGHP related tasks is a real step forward from our current processes.

Future volunteering opportunities will be posted directly on the new platform. We really encourage you to sign up and follow KGHP on this exciting new step in our volunteering journey!
