King's Professor Maribel Fernández recognised as Distinguished Member by the Association for Computing Machinery for Outstanding Scientific Contributions to Computing

The global accolade recognises the impact and significance of Maribel’s accomplishments in computer science.

Maribel Fernandez

Maribel is Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Informatics. Her current research focuses on the development of rewrite-based tools for the specification, analysis and verification of complex systems such as software, biochemical and financial systems. Maribel’s work has also involved applying rewriting techniques to security, specifically to the formalisation of access control models and privacy models for the Internet of Things. She is one of the five awardees from Europe amongst the 64 fellow 2020 ACM Distinguished Members.

Commenting on receipt of the award, Maribel said:

I am delighted to see that my contributions to computer science have been recognised in this way. It is also a recognition to the talent and effort of my students and collaborators, to whom I am very grateful.

Professor Luc Moreau, Head of the Department of Informatics, further added:
