The White & Case London Vis Pre-Moot
On 4 March 2018 Gaëtan de Robillard and Mariangela Bucci – two LLB students – won the White & Case London Vis Pre-Moot competition, beating 11 other teams in a highly competitive tournament. The win puts the team in a good position going into the Global Vis Moot Finals, which will be held in Vienna later this year.
In an interview with Legal Cheek following her victory, Mariangela Bucci said that she had originally taken part to develop her professional skills, but that her involvement in the competition had since persuaded her to follow a career in law. 'I ended up falling in love with it,' Mariangela said, 'It has convinced me that I definitely want to become a lawyer.'
The ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition
On 7 February 2018 a team comprised of two LLB students, Abraham Brown and Salman Shaheen, coached by Dima Alexandrova, a recent LLM graduate, reached the finals of the 13th ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition. The team is officially ranked 4th out of 65 competing teams from all over the world after completing a semi-final stage.
Coach Dima Alexandrova said, 'The ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition is the world's most prestigious mediation advocacy event. The team would like to thank Ms Katie Bradford (Partner, consultant in Dispute resolution at Linklaters LLP) for her initial support, which was crucial to launch the project as well as the mooting team from The Dickson Poon School of Law in the face of the Mooting Director Dr Emily Hudson, Mr Daniel Robson and Ms Zoe Fear.'
