delighted to offer the very first DID Outstanding Teaching Award to Anna Grimaldi. This award has been introduced to recognise the work of early career academics who have achieved exceptionally good outcomes in their teaching, and who have been nominated for the prize by their students. Anna received an extraordinarily high number of nominations. Our students recognise that Anna is an exceptionally talented and dedicated teacher; she has made outstanding contributions to DID programmes over the past years, and has provided excellent support to our students in this most challenging year. I am pleased to see that so many students have recognised her hard work, and certain that Anna will continue to excel in the profession.

I am absolutely honoured to have received this award for outstanding teaching. It should go without saying that the progress I have made since joining the department would not have been possible without the support, patience, and generosity of my incredible colleagues, nor the inspiring students I have known over the years. Brazilian pedagogist Paulo Freire stressed that education should be a means for discovering how to critically and creatively participate in the transformation of the world, and I think this is something that applies to educators as much as it does to students. On this note, I could not accept this award without giving extra special thanks to the current final year cohort. I am extremely grateful for everything you have taught me, and truly proud of all your achievements, and I wish you nothing but the best for these last few weeks at King's and wherever life takes you next.
