The Teaching Excellence Awards are highly competitive, and winning in any of the categories is an outstanding achievement. More than 2,200 nominations were made by students, which is then followed by several levels of selection, at Department, Faculty and university level. Both Luca and Chris received a large number of glowing nominations from their students, illustrating their passion for their subject and appreciation by our students for their dedication to education content and methods.

Since arriving at King’s four years ago, Luca has provided an outstanding experience to students in the two modules he teaches. As students remarked, Luca's "dedication and enjoyment in teaching is very apparent". The students who nominated Luca praised his engaging lecturing style, his well-prepared material and good use of real-world examples, and availability and supportiveness outside lectures.

Chris has made a huge impact this year, his first at King’s, teaching using a variety of methods including YouTube videos showing coursework solutions, and his enthusiastic interactive teaching style makes his course accessible and engaging. He was also praised for being approachable and for the support he provides to students during office hours.

Chris and Luca will officially be presented with their award at a celebration event on Thursday 7 June.
