Professor Lovell wins ASEES book prize

Professor Stephen Lovell has won the University of Southern California Book Prize for his Russia in the Microphone Age: A History of Soviet Radio, 1919-1970 (OUP, 2015).

Professor Stephen Lovell has won the University of Southern California Book Prize for his Russia in the Microphone Age: A History of Soviet Radio, 1919-1970 (OUP, 2015).

This prize is awarded by the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (the leading scholarly association in the field), for an outstanding monograph published on Russia, Eastern Europe or Eurasia in the fields of literary and cultural studies.

Russia in the Microphone Age is the first full history of Soviet radio in English.  Combining culture, society, politics and technology, it offers a novel, media-centred perspective on the Soviet experience.
