School set to bring its work to life at New Scientist Live 2025

The School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences is set to return to New Scientist Live in 2025 with its award-winning ‘Hospital of the Future’ stand.

Demo at New Scientist Live 2024

Taking place between 18 – 20 October at ExCeL London, more than 130 volunteers will showcase the School’s work in medical imaging, soft robotics, digital health and more to members of the public across 10 stands.

Voted as the most popular event exhibit for three years running, Hospital of the Future brings the School’s work to life for the public, bridging the gap between the cutting-edge research underway in its labs, and those who might one day be impacted by it as patients.

Long standing Hospital of the Future attendees including 3D printing, radiation detects disease and more return this year alongside new areas including cardiac digital twins, blood testing, hyperspectral imaging and digital twins for healthcare.

Medical device technologies industry partner Medtronic will also return to the event providing an important example of how research can be taken from bench to bedside through commercialisation.

More than 26,000 visitors attended New Scientist Live in 2024, and the event is expected to feature 80+ stands dedicated to the latest in research and technology in 2025. This makes it the UK’s largest science event and a fantastic opportunity for the School to connect its work and ideas to the public.

“New Scientist Live is critical to our mission to engineer better health. The event allows people to connect with novel technologies in an interactive way. This can help improve understanding and perceptions of the treatments and solutions they may experience as one of the 1.6 million patients who engage with the NHS each day.”
