Developing empathy in Master of Pharmacy students

Master of Pharmacy students develop empathy
In order to help Master of Pharmacy students develop empathy, a self-directed internship was integrated into the 3rd year curriculum by the department.
Students applied for a volunteer position, choosing from a list of organisations who had agreed to partner with King’s, to complete a minimum of 30 hours’ volunteer work.
The organisations involved ranged from charities supporting people living with mental health conditions to organisations supporting pupils from low-income backgrounds. Evaluations show that both students and the organisations involved felt that this is a valuable experience.
Mosaic Clubhouse, who were an organisation involved, said King’s students were ‘warm, patient, inquisitive and very knowledgeable.’
