Student elective to TMDU in Japan

This summer Sabrina Haynes had the opportunity to take part in a two-week elective placement in Japan.

Sabrina visited the Tokyo Medical Dental University.

The placement included tours and visits to some of the 29 departments in the facility, such as Forensic Dentistry, Sports Dentistry and the Fresh Breath Clinic.

The second week they were involved with the International Dental Programme. It included visitors from 9 other universities around the world such as Boston and Thailand to name a few.

During her time at TMDU, she was able to present to both the Japanese students and the international students about life at King's and what the university has to offer.

The placement was a great way to immerse myself in the Japanese culture and experience some of the different dental technology at TMDU.

“It was also an excellent opportunity to explore the country outside of my study.”

King’s dental students have the opportunity to take part in elective placements between their fourth and fifth years at the university.  The placements usually run for two weeks and our students choose to travel all over the world or indeed in the UK whilst on their electives.
