Luis de Guindos was a special guest at a workshop held at King’s on July 7 which focussed on the challenges posed to the global economy by persistent inflation.

The workshop, the Political Economy of Inflation, was organised by the Department of European and International Studies and Professor Simona Talani. It featured a full day of talks and presentations led by academics and experts.

Mr de Guindos told the audience that the bank believed underlying inflation pressures were finally easing across the euro zone but services price growth risked being sticky and keeping price growth high. Mr de Guindos also took questions from guests.

The speech was covered by news agency Reuters, Bloomberg, and the Financial Times.
