War Studies student in University Challenge quarter-final

The gallant quizzers of King’s College London have bowed out of this year’s University Challenge.

A team of four students from King's College London, including from the Department of War Studies, competed in a quarter-final against Imperial College London this week. Despite a commendable effort, the team were beaten 265-95.

An earlier defeat at the hands of Balliol College Oxford (145-95) meant it was the end of the road for the King’s quartet.

Former War Studies and History student Sam Jackson, was the team captain and was joined by  Louis Triggs, who is studying politics, philosophy and law, Simon Xu, studying for a PhD in cardiovascular science, and Grace Weaver, studying medicine.

The King’s team had impressed earlier in the competition with victories over Glasgow (175-90) and York University, by 170 points to 100, earlier this year.
