Winners of the Behind the Scenes photo competition

Take a look at the exceptional winning and commended entries from our students and staff

For the 'Behind the Scenes' competition, we invited our community to capture the beauty found in moments on campus - the quiet, unseen, and the in-between. Following a strong range of submissions, we are excited to announce this year’s winners.

And the winners are...

Congratulations to Rom Steinberg, student at the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (photo above) and Helen Eames, Lecturer in EAP Education and Pre-sessional & Short Courses Assistant Coordinator (photo below), for winning the 'Behind the Scenes' photography competition with these outstanding shots.

Aerial image of a winding staircase

I realise that this isn't the classic behind the scenes look, but it is what happens in the ten minutes between classes in Bush House South East Wing and there is a beauty in that. I also feel that this beauty is hidden in plain sight as many people never look down this stairwell despite using the stairs throughout their day.

Second place

In second place is Eitan Mirvis, student at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, who has captured his colleague inspecting blood samples which were used in a groundbreaking new treatment for blood cancers, and Catherine Sharman, IT colleague in the AV team whose image depicts a 35mm cinema projector in action for a Film Studies class, operated by the AV services team.

Third place

In third place is Annabelle Duggan, student in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, and David Batten, Engineering Technician in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences.

Highly commended entries

And finally, congratulations to Hanna Wenger, student of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Helen Fitzgerald, staff member at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, Caner Necatigil, student at the Dickson Poon School of Law and Matthew Smith, staff member at King's Business School for their highly commended entries.

We'd like to offer a huge thank you to everyone who took part and shared their unique perspectives with us. Here's to all the hidden moments that make King's such an exciting place, and to continuing to notice things we might otherwise have missed!
