The future of stem cell research

Inrecent years there has been an explosion of interest in stem cells within the scientific and medical communities, as wellas amongst politicians, pharmaceutical companies and ethicists.

Stem cells offer great potential to treatdiseases that cannot be cured with current medicines, as ProfessorFiona Watt, Director of the Centre for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, explains in our latest video:


Following therecent £12.75 million investment in stem cell research by the Wellcome Trust and Medical Research Council (MRC),and plans for a ‘Stem Cell Hotel’ based at Guy’s Hospital, King’s is well placed to lead the wayin this exciting field of research.
