Biography

Alasdair gained a BA (Hons) in English literature at the University of Durham and a MA TESOL from the University of Nottingham. He also gained a Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL and the DELTA.

For the last two and half years Alasdair has been working as an ESAP (English for Specific Academic Purposes) teacher working with sophomore, undergraduate chemists and economists at Reading Academy, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, a 4+1 program run with the University of Reading. He designed materials, syllabi and assessment for these two courses. Alasdair also performed the role of senior foreign teacher in his last semester.

Alasdair is really interested in materials design (especially subject-specific materials) and creating criteria for assessment which are practical to use for raters but also which reflect concrete behaviours of the test takers.

Alasdair likes bird-watching, reading, swimming, running and listening to podcasts about American sports.
