Dr Alberto Gatta

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Biography

Alberto has been working in the field of membrane trafficking and lipid biology since 2012 when he started a PhD at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology with Tim Levine. Here he co-authored a series of papers describing a new family of lipid transfer proteins conserved from yeast to humans operating intracellular cholesterol traffic. He spent one year at Yale University in Jim Rothman Lab working on the biophysical aspects of a SNARE-associated protein before joining Jez Carlton Lab at KCL in 2017. Here he's been working on the molecular basis of ESCRT-III membrane interaction and remodelling. He holds BSc and MSc degrees in Biotechnology from the San Raffaele University of Milan.
