Alejandra López Vázquez

Alejandra López Vázquez has extensive experience as a teacher and teacher trainer. She completed her degree in Teaching Buenos Aires, where she taught English in primary and secondary schools and at University level. She joined King’s College London in 2001, where she was awarded a BA in Hispanic and Latin American Studies. She completed an MA in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Cultural Studies at Birkbeck College, with a dissertation on Lucrecia Martel cinema. Alejandra holds a Diploma in Interpreting for the Public Service from the Institute of Linguists and has worked as a free-lance translator subtitling TV series and films for the Latin American market. She uses a communicative approach and fosters an inclusive learning environment in her classes, by encouraging collaborative and autonomous learning. Alejandra believes that learning a language plays a crucial role in developing intercultural awareness. Her main research interests include cinema, drama, literature and politics. She has been working with online assessments and she is interested in the benefits of e-learning and in the use of Improvisation techniques in the classroom. She is part of a Mental Imagery research group and has delivered presentations and workshops on the topic.
