Alejandra López Vázquez joined King’s College London Language Centre in 2001.

She completed her English Language Teacher Training (1999) in Daguerre English Institute, Argentina and her BA in Spanish, Portuguese & Latin American Studies (2010) at King's College London, UK. She completed her MA in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Cultural Studies (2015) at Birkbeck College. She is Deputy Team Lead for the Spanish team and CIEL EDI Committee rep for the King's Language Centre. She speaks Spanish, English and Italian. 

As a Deputy Team Leader, she supports the Iberian languages Team Leader in all matters related to Spanish, mainly supervising the quality of Spanish assessment and liaising with the External Examiners. She also overviews courses (syllabi, week by week plans, proofreading and checking pieces of assessment), does class observations and teachers' induction and supports and supervises the teachers' use of KEATS. She prepares timetables, supports, advises and liaises with Spanish teachers and students and assesses students’ language level for enrolment and transfers, among other tasks. As a lecturer, she has taught Spanish for UG and PG students at all levels in different programmes (A1 to C2), Spanish Contemporary Culture and Spanish through cinema, Business Spanish, Pedagogical Grammar for PGCE students and Language & Pedagogical reflection for GCSE teachers. At the moments she teaches Ab-Initio modules in collaboration with the Department of Literatures, Languages and Culture, Post-graduate beginners and One-Semester modules. She participates in initial assessment for students, designs syllabi, week by week schemes of work and exam papers and acts as an examiner. She also delivers training for students and staff. She also devotes parts of her time to the Scholarship projects.

Research, Scholarly projects and Academic Awards

She is currently working on "Improving Spanish speaking skills through AI-driven conversations ", which is part of a long-term project to help students to improve their speaking skills through interaction with AI conversational agents and the creation of pronunciation building blocks (together with Micaela Moreyra and Olga Férriz). They have presented the project at several conferences .Other areas of interest are the decolonisation of the curriculum, inclusivity and student engagement. Ale is currently working in the design of a collaborative project for the systematization and creation of activities for the Spanish modules towards decolonising the curriculum with the Spanish team.
