Biography
Dr. Alexander Schuchter is a Senior Lecturer at the University of St. Gallen, where he has taught fraud, risk, and governance since 2010, and serves as Internal Audit Team Lead (Operational Risks) at St.Galler Kantonalbank (Switzerland), with audit-planning mandates for Glarner Kantonalbank (GLKB) and Appenzeller Kantonalbank (AppKB).
He is a governance and risk specialist with over 15 years’ international experience across internal audit, risk management, and compliance. Dr. Schuchter is also the Founder of Schuchter Management GmbH, advising boards and C-suite leaders of DAX/SMI companies and financial institutions on audit strategy, integrity risk, and regulatory expectations.
He is an invited speaker at the Cambridge Economic Crime Symposium, and his recent work includes designing risk-based audit plans, strengthening speak-up/whistleblowing and control frameworks, and operationalising data- and AI-enabled early-warning approaches. Previously, he served as Team Lead in EY’s Forensic & Integrity Services. Dr. Schuchter holds a PhD (Dr. oec. HSG) in management from the University of St. Gallen and completed a UK-based project on risk governance and best-practice transfer. A Certified Fraud Examiner and Internal Audit Quality Assessor (IIA Switzerland), he has published widely and is frequently consulted by boards on decision-useful reporting and audit committee oversight.
