Biography
I am a Research Associate, funded by the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre, within Professor Cathryn Lewis’s team at the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre. I am interested in using statistics to understand and predict outcomes relevant to mental health.
My background is in biostatistics and statistical genetics. I studied Mathematics with Economics (BSc, University of Sussex), and Biostatistics (MSc, University of New South Wales), before working as a Research Assistant across multiple projects including: the development of log-linear regression methods, analysing GO gameplay data and modelling fetal growth trajectories. I completed a PhD in Statistical Genetics from King’s College London, where I developed and applied methods for scale transformations and genetic risk prediction using summary statistics, and characterised subtypes of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis using model-based clustering.
My current project investigates the impact of depression, and depression polygenic scores, on glycaemic control for individuals with Type 2 Diabetes.
Research interests:
- Longitudinal data analysis
- Polygenic scores
- Prediction modelling
- Depression and mental health

Research
The Statistical Genetics Unit
Led by Professor Cathryn Lewis, it is a cross-school unit, comprising 20 researchers in the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre and in the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics. Our aims are to develop and apply statistical methods to identify and characterise the genetic component to common, complex disorders.
