Head of Cluster Operations (Cultures)

Biography

Alex joined the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in January 2023 as the Senior Business Operations Manager. In July 2025, she became the Head of Cluster Operations (Cultures) within the Faculty.

She has worked in Higher Education since 2013 in a range of roles including department management, timetabling management, and programmes management.

Alex is active in the HE sector and holds a deputy coordinator role for the EDI Special Interest Group for the Association for Higher Educational Professionals, as well as Co-Chair for the Kings College London NEST Parent and Carer Committee and is a member of the editorial board for the Perspectives journal. 

Alex has an MSc in Gender, Sexuality and Society and is the Chair of a Local Governing Board for a SEN Primary Academy local to home.

As Head of Cluster Operations for the Cultures Cluster, Alex works in close partnership with the academic Head of Cluster and the Heads of Department to ensure that the academic endeavour is strengthened and supported by excellent professional services provision. This covers a range of operations duties including:

  • Taking a leading role in the planning and development of strategic and operational professional services support and implementation
  • Resource planning and management
  • Fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging through team leadership and line management

The Cultures Cluster includes: Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures; Department of English, and the Department of Interdisciplinary Humanities.
