Thesis Title: 'The Nature of the Social Contract that Exists between Non-State Actors and Societies in the Northern Kenya Context'

This research uses leadership and social contract theories to examine the nature of the relationship between non-state security actors and societies living in insecure areas. In this, it reframes narratives surrounding security and societal dynamics in developing states. The research develops a framework that contributes towards interrogating alternative ways of understanding security dynamics.
