Biography

Dr. Alice Collier is a Reader in Chemistry Education in the Department of Chemistry, King's College London. Alice graduated with an MChem in Analytical Chemistry from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in 2004 before carrying on to do a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry under the supervision of Dr Gerd Wagner (UEA). Throughout her PhD, Alice was heavily involved in instructing and demonstrating to undergraduate students on the chemistry and pharmacy courses. Upon completion of her PhD, her teaching experiences led her to accepting a position as a senior demonstrator in the Pharmacy department at the UEA. Alice was appointed as a teaching fellow in chemistry at King’s College London in 2011 and has been largely responsible for the development of the integrated laboratory module to be taught in the first year.

As a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry Education, Alice is interested in using videos and interactive online resources to enhance the learning experience of students. Alice’s research interests include medicinal chemistry and chemical biology. In particular she is interested in the chemical synthesis of biological molecules to act as molecular probes.
