Biography

Supervisor: Professor Jon Hindmarsh and Dr Dirk Vom Lehn

Research Group: Public Services Management and Organization (PSMO)

Project Title: Personal Safety as Collaborative Practice: A Video Ethnography of Rope Access Work

Year of Study: 2018, Full-time

Andrew obtained his BA and MA in Human Geography from Concordia University and Newcastle University. Outside of the academic setting, he has worked as a civilian trainer for the UAE armed forces and as a project manager in the roofing industry. This experience of working in dangerous settings is what drew his attention to how interactions at work can be affected by extreme contexts. Andrew is interested in using video and other mobile methods to study the kind of professional interactions that do not occur in a static setting.
