Ankit Das is an EPSRC/Hinduja PhD Research Scholar at the EPSRC CDT in Advanced Engineering for Personalised Surgery and Intervention (AE-PSI), affiliated with the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences, King’s College London. Ankit’s doctoral research focuses on 'Intelligent deep learning neuroimaging system for guiding brain tumour treatment', under the supervision of Dr Jonathan Shapey and Prof Tom Vercauteren.

His research interests lie in the thrust area of Medical Image Computing, Deep Learning, Contrastive Learning, and Explainable AI, with major contributions focused on integrating novel vision paradigms within optimised lightweight neural networks for medical image segmentation. In retrospect, Ankit completed his under-graduation in Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering (B.Tech CSE), securing first division from Amity University Kolkata, in 2024. 

In 2025, he was conferred the degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Data Science, achieving a ‘Merit’ classification from the University of Glasgow, where he was awarded three prestigious scholarships — the India Merit Award (GBP 5,000), the International Leadership Scholarship (GBP 10,000), and the International Excellence Award (GBP 10,000).

Prior to joining KCL, Ankit served as a Research Assistant and subsequently as a Visiting Researcher at the CMATER, Department of CSE, Jadavpur University. Since the inception of his research career, Ankit’s work has resulted in Q1 publications (IEEE TIM etc.), while he also contributes as a reviewer for several Q1 journals. Beyond research, Ankit is a bibliophile, cricketer, visual artist and an aficionado of photography.
