Biography
Annika Dhawan is a Researcher in Clinical Mental Health Sciences with a focus on dementia, ageing, and neurodegenerative disorders. Her most recent research, supervised by Dr Rebecca Gould at University College London, explored how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be adapted for people with Parkinson’s disease and anxiety, combining qualitative analysis with person-centred therapeutic approaches. Annika has also worked as an Assistant Psychologist within the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, supporting individuals with complex depression, anxiety, and trauma, and at a private psychotherapy clinic, facilitating Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) sessions.
She holds an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences from University College London, where she achieved a Distinction, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with a focus on Neuroscience from the University of St Andrews. Her research interests include dementia care, caregiver wellbeing, and the development of evidence-based psychological interventions for individuals affected by neurodegenerative and affective disorders.
