Ayshah Tull (Geography, 2008) is an award-winning journalist and presenter, currently working for Channel 4 News. Known for her clarity, empathy and authority on screen, she has reported on major national and international stories, including the COVID-19 pandemic and leading reports on the Black Lives Matter protests in the UK.

Ayshah’s career began when she was selected for the BBC Production Trainee Scheme, where she was one of 4,000 applicants for 12 places. Her transition to on-screen journalism came in 2013, when she joined BBC Newsround as a presenter. In this role, she developed a distinctive style of accessible, audience-focused journalism, explaining complex global events to younger viewers in a clear and engaging way.

Ayshah then moved into broader national and international reporting, contributing to BBC Sport, BBC Breakfast and current affairs programme Victoria Derbyshire, before joining Channel 4 News in 2019.

At Channel 4 , Ayshah has become a prominent presenter and Health Correspondent. Her reporting covered major global events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 US elections, and international reactions to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, often reporting from the field and engaging directly with affected communities. She has also led coverage on health inequalities and underrepresented groups, bringing attention to issues that are often overlooked in mainstream reporting.

A defining moment in Ayshah’s career came when she presented Black to Front, a landmark Channel 4 broadcast featuring Black on-screen and behind-the-scenes talent. The programme was widely described as groundbreaking and received a BAFTA nomination.

This nomination was just one of many for Ayshah, who has been recognised with multiple industry accolades. In 2020, she won Journalist of the Year, and the Grand Prize at The Drum Online Media Awards, the first time the award has been given to an individual.

Beyond reporting, Ayshah has taken on a broader leadership role within the media industry. She is a Trustee of the John Schofield Trust, where she sits on the board and mentors emerging journalists, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, to help improve access and diversity within the profession.

Today, Ayshah is a leading voice in modern broadcast journalism, whose work continues to shape how news is reported and experienced by audiences.
